Research Area: Robotics

The Whiting School's robotics research group addresses design, analysis, simulation, and implementation of novel robotic devices.

Research issues include: efficient formulation and representation of robotic manipulator kinematics and dynamics, real-time simulation of complex mechanical systems, design of novel surgical instrumentation, computer control of electro-mechanical devices, development of novel sensing algorithms and devices, particularly vision and haptics, design of "smart" electro-mechanical systems, geometrical issues in manufacturing, and analysis of "minimalist" robots for dedicated industrial tasks.
