International Academic and Industrial Partnerships

Academic Partnerships
The Whiting School of Engineering is currently developing academic partnerships in India and China to promote the free exchange of ideas and expertise with academic and engineering institutions in these countries and provide new research and educational opportunities for students and faculty at Johns Hopkins.

Industrial Partnerships
Building on the highly successful model of the Whiting School's Engineering Programs for Professionals, WSE is developing initiatives to support engineers working for Chinese and American corporate partners in China.  The Whiting School will create customized programs (both on-line and in-country), envisioned at the masters/certificate level, designed specifically to meet the needs of local and regional industry

Recent Developments

• Dr. Hedy Alavi, a senior lecturer in the school’s Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering has been appointed Assistant to the Dean for International Programs and, in this capacity, will build upon the recent progress made by Dean Jones in this area.
  
  
• A Memorandum of Understanding between Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and Johns Hopkins University has been signed to develop a joint program for bioengineering that will include collaborative research projects, the exchange of visiting scholars and students, joint educational initiatives, seminars, workshops, conferences and technical assistance in the area of bioengineering.
  
  
• A Memorandum of Understanding between École Centrale de Lyon and Johns Hopkins University has been signed to develop collaborative research projects, the exchange of visiting scholars and students and other joint educational initiatives.
